THURSDAY, APRIL 13, DAY 1: ARRIVE BEN GURION AIRPORT / TRANSFER TO JERUSALEM / HERODIUM/ MAUNDAY THURSDAY (HOLY THURSDAY)

Arrival in Tel Aviv at 7:25, you will be met by your guide, Canon Iyad Qumri, transfer to our accommodation in Jerusalem. Introductions. Lunch. Visit Herodium some 12 km. south of Jerusalem, on a hill shaped like a truncated cone that rises 758 m. above sea level, stood Herodium, the palace-fortress built by King Herod. It had a breathtaking view, overlooking the Judean Desert and the mountains of Moab to the east, and the Judean Hills to the west. Maundy Thursday, also called Holy Thursday or Sheer Thursday, the Thursday before Easter, observed in commemoration of Jesus Christ's institution of the Eucharist during the Last Supper. ... Eastern Orthodox churches also have a ceremony of foot washing and blessing of oil on this day.

FRIDAY, APRIL 14, DAY 2: SHEPHERD’S FIELD / bethlehem / peace center ORTHODOX GOOD FRIDAY

Group Photo. We depart to the Shepherd’s Field, Early Lunch is in Beit Sahour. Visit the Church of the Nativity located in Manger Square and the oldest Church in Christendom. Constructed by Constantine in AD 326 it is the traditional site of the Nativity. Following our visit to the Church we will visit the Peace Center which houses a Creche Museum, built by the Anglican Communion for the Millennium. The Peace Center stands as a symbol of this West Bank city's reputation for coexistence and is one of the premier cultural institutions and performance venues in Palestine. We will see Hong Kong’s contribution to the Creche Museum in the Peace Center. Visit the separation wall.

The Good Friday mass takes place in the evening and is followed by a solemn procession around the block of the church. People usually join the procession, with a brown candle in hand, and chant or listen to the chanters singing the hymns.

SATURDAY, APRIL 15, DAY 3: HOLY FIRE

Orthodox tradition holds that the Holy Fire happens annually on the day preceding Orthodox Pascha (Orthodox Easter). ... Before the fire is lit, the Patriarch kneels inside the Edicule in front of the stone, with crowds gathered outside. When the fire is lit, the Patriarch comes out of the church with two lit candles.

SUNDAY, APRIL 16, DAY 4: WESTERN WALL / DOME OF THE ROCK / WORSHIP AT SAINT GEORGE’S CATHEDRAL / NAZARETH

We depart for the Western Wall near Elharam Esh Sharif (The Dome of The Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque). St. Anne’s Church and the pools of Bethesda. Sunday Eucharist at Saint George’s Cathedral, the liturgy will be celebrated in English and Arabic. Lunch. in afternoon we will visit Mary’s Well, the site of the only spring-fed fountain in the city, and most likely the place where Mary would have gone to draw water. We then visit the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation where we will have an opportunity to have an introduction to the Icon, we then follow on foot the path to the Latin Church of the Annunciation, the traditional site of the Angel Gabriel’s appearance to Mary, telling her she would conceive Jesus, the Emmanuel.

MONDAY, APRIL 17, DAY 5: SEPPHORIS / CAESAREA PHILIPPI

Sepphoris, where we explore the excavations of the Roman / Byzantine city, the capital of Galilee at the time of Jesus. Lunch in Masada of the North. Depart for Caesarea Philippi (Banias) and Jesus went on with his disciples, to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?”

TUESDAY, APRIL 18, DAY 6: SEA OF GALILEE / JORDAN RIVER / CAPERNAUM / BEATITUDES

Today we depart for the Sea of Galilee-Lake Kinnereth. Stop at the Jordan River for the renewal of Baptismal vows. We then visit Capernaum where we see the Ancient Synagogue and St. Peter’s House.  We continue to the Mount of Beatitudes and we will celebrate the Eucharist at Mt. Eremos as we walk down the Mount of Beatitude, Lunch is by the Sea of Galilee, followed by a visit to Tabgha (Heptapegon), The Loaves and Fishes Church and the Chapel of St. Peter’s Primacy. Boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19, DAY 7: BURQIN / NABLUS / TAYBEH

Depart for Burqin. Jesus had passed through Burqin on his way to Jerusalem from Nazareth, and as he was passing by the village he heard cries for help from ten lepers who were isolated in quarantine in a cave, Nablus to visit (St. Photini the Greek Orthodox Monastery), St. Photini lived in first century Palestine, she was the Samaritan woman who Christ visited at the well asking her for water, the church built over Jacob’s well where will tour the church and drink from the Well, Lunch in Taybeh, visit Taybeh, the only 100% Christian town, in the fourth century the Emperor Constantine and his mother St. Helena built the church of St. George in the village, the ruins of the Church are still found on a hill in the town. We will also visit the brewery.

THURSDAY, APRIL 20, DAY 8: BETH-PHAGE / DOMINUS FLEVIT / GETHSEMANE / PRINCESS BASMA CENTER

Walk the Palm Sunday Procession. We will stop at Pater Noster and Dominus Flevit, where Jesus wept over the city. It is known as Dominus Flevit [ Latin for “The Lord wept”]. Afterward, we will walk to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. Lunch. Princess Basma Center for Disabled Children on the Mount of Olives, the Center is home to the victims of many paralyses, strokes, debilitating injuries and other physical and Emotional needs, currently numbering 450 Students

FRIDAY, APRIL 21, DAY 9: WAY OF THE CROSS / EMMAUS / DEAD SEA

Early this morning we walk and pray the Way of the Cross. Later we depart for Emmaus Nicopolis. We celebrate the Eucharist at the ruins of the Byzantine Church.

Lunch in Jericho at the Qumris. Dead Sea, where you will have the option to swim – or really, float (Rocky Beach)

SATURDAY, APRIL 22, DAY 10:

Transfer to the Tel Aviv airport for our return flight at ………. to Hong Kong
